Canton Parent Advisory Council for Student Services

We are the only volunteer group representing ALL Canton special needs students associated with the Canton public schools.

As special needs parents ourselves, we understand and act as an advisory group to the Canton school system and each other. Our goals are to help promote communication and programs within the Canton community to encourage greater understanding, tolerance, acceptance, compassion and inclusion of special needs children.

Parents are invited to attend a workshop on Basic Rights in Special Education on Monday, April 12 at 7 PM in Rm 138 at Canton High School. This workshop is designed to help parents learn how to be effective partners with their child’s school to decide the child’s eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions and monitor their child’s progress in school.  It provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Massachusetts Special Education Law and No Child Left Behind (NCLB).  It is being presented by The Federation for Children with Special Needs.  www.fcsn.org   We hope to see you there!!!
