Welcome to the John F. Kennedy Elementary School and the 2008-2009 school year!

As I begin my second year at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School, I find myself very excited about all of the changes that are taking place. Our CAPT (parent teacher organization) has recently funded several school and classroom projects. We look forward to continuing our “Author in Residence” program for each grade level, providing new science and wellness equipment and “rehabilitating” our lobby due to their generous support.

The Kennedy will be adding five new teachers this year, including one additional teacher in grades three-five, a new special needs teacher and a new speech-language pathologist.

All of the news regarding our new staff members, events, and activities can be found on this website, so please check the website often. This year, we also hope to go “paperless” here at the JFK, so we encourage you to check your e-mail weekly for copies of flyers, the monthly newsletter, etc.

I look forward to continuing to focus on our Kennedy mission; providing a standards-based education for our students within a safe and nurturing environment. Our staff will assist in educating and developing children who are contributing members of our society, and whose love of learning and the arts can extend beyond their school year. I hope that we can add to this mission a significant amount of fun, creating a recipe for another successful year!

I would strongly encourage all parents to join our Canton Association of Parent and Teachers organization to further assist with our children’s education and development. All CAPT programming is outlined in detail each month in the CAPT newsletter. Another volunteer opportunity is the JFK School Council. More information about both of these JFK organizations can be found on this website. Parent involvement in education sets an example for children and certainly adds an element of community pride.

If you have any questions or concerns, please stop by, e-mail or call.
